Vicky,
I was enjoying Pa's page on your website, and
you know, I think I have seen the Molly Darling Chance that was
bred to Tripple Chance D. to produce the sire of Pa's dam. He's
the stallion Betty Dement sent out west in order to keep the
younger Ballerina's Diamond. From a photo of him I saw once in Walking
Horse News,
Pa's Dement grandsire could really walk. The lady writing the
article described him as a dinosaur, a horse that was in gait and
true at all times except when running. That was a Hunter's Allen
characteristic, according to the history books, and my palomino
with 2 shots to F-10, plus F-10 on the papers, would tend to bear
that out.
My husband's brother remembers seeing Tripple Chance D. on many
occasions. Too bad Arthur Dement packed him off before the
pleasure movement gathered steam in Middle Tennessee!
Molly is dead now, but her last owner has a
filly from a granddaughter of Molly that I would love to own, if I
could stand to part with something else in order to buy her. I an
always dream!
Franne
